Sew slow....

Now that fall officially seems to have arrived I'm actually looking forward to hitting my little corner of the basement to do some sewing. I haven't sewn all summer...just too many other things to do and really not very interested in being cooped up downstairs. HOWEVER...after sewing up some purses yesterday (some to donate to a Breast Cancer fundraiser) it felt good to get the creative juices flowing. I was not thrilled about what I ended up with...oh well...sometimes what is in the brain is much prettier than how it shows up. I didn't really find too much great pink fabric to work with..I wanted something satiny...with some pizazz...that would hold up as a purse but I just couldn't find anything.

Breast Cancer Purses

A friend wanted to know if I would sew a purse to help raise some money for a Breast Cancer fundraiser she is going to. A PINK purse..how fun. I'm not too thrilled with how it turned out...I wish I could have found some more pink fabric...but maybe someone else will love it.

fun with leftover fabric....

I had Madeline draw me a picture of a friendly monster and then I brought it to life. I always thought those Ugly dolls were so cute...but wouldn't want to pay the $$ for them...so I thought it would be fun to just make a couple out of my scraps. The girls really love them...Sophie named hers Spikey and Madeline named hers Krystle.

Little Ms. Crafty purse....

Sophie has a bday party for some little friends in her class who are twins. I thought instead of the standard toy...why not make a little purse with their names. I saw some cute placemats at Target bought some coordinated ribbon and material and the end result is a purse that fits a clipboard and colouring books with the crayons on the exterior. As with anything I make...both Madeline and Sophie want one now!!

not the least bit fun....

HA! This is an Amy Butler pattern that I have been dying to make that last year...but it has been sitting on the sidelines because I was a little overwhelmed by it!!! However...yesterday I decided to tackle it head on. It looks pretty from a distance....but don't get too close. HA! Not such an easy pattern but it is a great size bag! I can't wait to make another one for myself in some great Amy Butler prints!!!!!

Zippity do da.....

One of my custom orders really wanted a hidden zipper in her purse...as I usually have over the past year I initially said I couldn't do it. HOWEVER..I decided it was time I learned. Isn't it funny how you think things will be much harder sometime than they really are. I looked up online and found a website called Enthral Designs it was the first tutorial I saw that gave me some fantastic instructions and voila...
